Layout and Marking Gauge, Gage, craftsman made and old, Exceptional workmanship using a wood of some species that I'm unfamiliar with, the grain resembles Mahogany or some Rosewoods I've seen but it's too light, a visual stunner in sunlight

iny chip in the head slot probably from the day it was made (see photo). I've owned it for about 45 years. I used it way back in the day to layout tea caddies. It's a smaller gauge, ideal for smaller layouts. The shaft measures between 12 and 13 inches, the head is between 4 and 5 inches wide with a well fitting friction lock. The best in craftsman made tools, still showing some of the layout lines on the various components. The tool is ready for display or your next project.
