Vintage, Unusual, Light Blue, Nude Woman, Glass, Nouveau, Cambridge(?). Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.Over the years, I’ve seen many glass nudes, but I’ve never seen anything quite like this. When I bought this at an Ohio antique show at least 4 decades ago, the dealer from S.E. Ohio said this was a piece of Cambridge glass, an end of the day. Since I had just moved into a century home in Shalersville (Ohio), I thought this miss needed a place in my home. She lived in that home for two decades. She always laid on the top of a melodeon because she could not stand up. I always thought she was meant to stand on some piece of marble, reigning over the sun room in one of those mansions in Ohio.
But at the end of the day, the workman left her beautiful but unfinished. She went with me when I moved to Kent and everyone who came to dinner wanted to know her history (by then she was living in the dining room).
Now I find I am moving again – downsizing – and want to share my wonderful miss with someone new.
She is beautiful but she does not photograph well. She is posed against some wall ready to step into a pool – after all why else would she be nude? Unlike the girls posed in some flower frog, she is a woman, with her hand covering her breast and a solitary flower in her long hair.
She is much larger than any glass nude I have ever seen.
She’s about 11-1/2 in. tall, about 6 in. wide and about 4 in. deep. She is a lovely, unusual shade of light blue.
I fear I am doing her justice in my description.
She is a three dimension piece. The woman is a clear glass the melds into a crackled background. (I really don’t know how else to describe her.)
If you have any questions about her, please contact me. But she really is something. My words do not do her justice. If you know more about this nude, please email me for I would love to know more about her.
